FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Well most everything is new this year. Will put up instructions and FAQ once I start getting questions. In the meantime will keep making changes to the web site so that we are ready to go by the begining of the season.
- The Math Poll ranking algorithm is based on the International Chess Federation ELO ranking system. Matches must be played and results reported for any rankings to be produced.
- How does the ranking system work? Each game (NOT match) is worth 32 points. The ELO determines how many points each team antes for the game. The higher rated team will ante more points. Winner take all. .
- Why do the rankings flucuate so much? The ranking algorithm rewards teams for playing and winning. The more you play, the more you win, the higher your ranking. Once each team (by mid season) has played 15 or so games the rankings will stabilize a bit.
